Boerne, Texas ?The Nebraska women’s golf team sits tied for 11th-place after one round of the Baylor-Tapatio Spring Shootout on Friday afternoon.
With a team score of 319, the Huskers are tied with Notre Dame and North Texas after the first of three rounds. Nebraska is 10 strokes out of fourth place and 13 strokes out of third. Baylor finished third after one round of action by shooting a score of 303, Missouri followed right behind in fourth with a score of 306. Texas Tech lead the 19-team field with a 296 in Friday's opening round.
"We are so close to playing well, but we just can't break through," Head Coach Robin Krapfl said. "We did a lot of good things, but a couple of holes we couldn't get by."
Leading Nebraska after the first round is sophomore Jackie Beste (Sauke Centre, Minn.) with a six over par-78 on the 6,007-yard, par 72 Tapatio Springs Golf Resort course.
Round two of the Baylor-Tapatio Spring Shootout is scheduled for Saturday, March 20, with a shotgun start of 7:30 a.m. central time.
