Huskers Struggle at Spartan Invite

After two rounds at the Spartan Invitational held on the Corral de Tierra C.C., in Salinas, Calif., the Nebraska women’s golf team sits at 15th place with a score of 632 (322-310).

Senior captain Stephanie Schaefer (Columbus, Neb.) led the team with a two round tally of 153 (75-78) and is tied for 35th place.

Head coach Robin Krapfl anticipates the team will progress as they get more time on the greens.

“We did improve on some things from last week,” said Krapfl. “Obviously the scores we shot don’t really indicate what we can do. There is still a lot of work ahead of us. We need to fine tune everything.”

UCLA sits at No. 1 in the field of 17 teams with a two-round tally of 573.  The Bruins’ Charlotte Mayorkas goes into the final round of action at first with a score of 139 (72-67).

The Spartan Invitational will conclude on Wednesday, March 3, with the last round of the 54-hole tournament commencing at 10 a.m. central time.
