Lincoln - The 70th-ranked Nebraska women’s team saw its six-match winning streak snapped as they fell to 16th-ranked Texas Longhorns, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Woods Tennis Center. The loss against the Longhorns drops the Huskers to 0-7 lifetime against Texas.
In singles action, Texas won five of six matches, as Leslie Harvey improved to 7-0 on the season with a victory over Kelly Baritot at the No. 3 singles spot. Harvey won the first set, 6-2 before Baritot had to retire in the second. At the No. 1 singles spot, Gitte Ostermann lost a close match to Petra Dizdar, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4. Anne Oehme, Katie Garcia and Pamela Castillejos all suffered their first loss of the season.
In doubles action, Texas won two of three matches to earn the doubles point. At the No. 3 spot, Oehme and Milena Schulz-Gartner defeated Baritot and Olson, 9-8.
The Huskers return to action when they take to the road for a match against 48th-ranked Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m.
