Lincoln-- The Nebraska women's rifle team hosts its second home meet of the season this Saturday, Dec. 6, against UMKC at the NU Rifle Range (14th and Vine) beginning at 9 a.m.
The Huskers, 3-2 on the season, are looking for their best performance of the season thus far in their last match of 2003.
"We've been working hard since it's our last match of the semester," Head Coach Launi Meili said. "We've got good momentum because we trained hard over Thanksgiving break.
"The team has set realistic goals, and they're looking for their highest finish of the year. It helps that we'll be at home, since the team feels more comfortable at home."
Competing for the Huskers in smallbore will be sophomore Misty Chanek, freshman Kristina Fehlings, junior Laura Johnson and freshman Stacy Underwood. Sophomore Sarah Quinn and senior Karen Aspden will compete unattached. Nebraska’s team for air rifle will consist of Chanek, Fehlings, Underwood and Quinn, while Johnson and Aspden will compete unattached.
NU has not faced UMKC this season, but defeated the Kangaroos at home last season in the school's only head-to-head meeting of 2002-03. NU is 7-1 all-time vs. the Kangaroos.
