The Huskers battled throughout the contest, but were only able to post two shots on goal for the contest, coming from senior Christy Harms and freshman Kari Krumland.

'You can't fault the effort,' Assistant Coach Megan Skinner said. 'You have to be so sharp against them and we needed better execution. We just played a better team on the day. We have a lot of work to do.'

Freshman goalkeeper Katie Wright knocked down 10 shots from the firing Tar Heels, but gave up six goals in her first collegiate start for the Huskers.

<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>North Carolina's Lori Chalupny took the game into her own hands, notching a hat trick with the team's first, second and fifth goals.  Carolina's Libby Guess, Alyssa Ramsey and Lindsay Tarpley each recorded one goal a piece to put the Huskers away.

The Huskers trailed, 3-0, at the half and the Huskers never made really put together a solid attack in the second half to make a run at the Tar Heels.

Junior Lindsey Ingram played a strong defensive game, holding off North Carolina's first scoring attack eight minutes into the contest with a team save to keep UNC scoreless.

North Carolina out cornered Nebraska, 9-1, and outshot NU, 28-2.  The loss drops Nebraska to 2-2-0 on the season and improves North Carolina to 4-0-0.

The Huskers will try to regroup as they travels to Madison, Wis., next weekend to face Michigan and Wisconsin in the Wisconsin Invitational.
