Honolulu, Hawaii- The Nebraska rifle team downed both Nevada and San Francisco on Feb. 17 in Honolulu, Hawaii. NU's team score of 3,055 was enough, as the Wolfpack recorded a team score of 3,052 and the Dons earned a score of 2,902.
The meet, which was held outdoors, was dominated by the Huskers. Senior Amanda Trujillo recorded a score of 773 in two rounds of air rifle competition, placing her second, while teammates junior Melissa Downsbrough (770) and sophomore Alicia Sawyer (766) wrapped up second and third, respecitvely.
Junior Karen Aspden took home seventh (759), while teammate sophomore Laura Johnson placed eighth (757) to round out the scoring for the Huskers.
The meet marks the end of the regular season for the NU rifle team, as they now await to see if they will earn a spot in the 2003 NCAA Championships.
