Eugene, Ore. -- The University of Nebraska wrestling team recorded its second dual victory of the day with a 30-3 victory over Oregon tonight at McArthur Courts on the campus of Oregon University.
Nebraska won nine of the ten weight classes with the only defeat coming at 197-pounds where Jake Leair defeated freshman Kyle Gubbels, 7-1.
Nebraska started the dual by winning the 125-pound weight class. Junior Jason Powell scored a major decision over Martin Mitchell, 11-2, for his second victory of the day. At 133 pounds, Joey Malia won a hard fought match against Jason Harless, 6-1.
Matt Murray continued his winning ways defeating Casey Hunt, 4-3 at 141 pounds. Murray scored an escape with 43 seconds left to earn the point and seal the victory.
At 149 pounds, sophomore Travis Shufelt defeated Tony Overstreet, 8-4. Redshirt freshman Nate McMillin major decision Chet McBee, 13-3 at 157 pounds.
Jacob Klein won his third match in two days defeating Luke Larwin, 7-4. The lone upset of the night occurred at 174 pounds, where 13th-ranked Travis Pascoe defeated 7th-ranked and previously undefeated Shane Webster, 5-2.
Sixth-ranked, B.J. Padden got back on the winning track by major decision over Elias Soto, 13-2. At the heavyweight class, Mitch Manstedt fought off Neil Phillips for the victory, 9-4.
The Huskers return to action, December 28, 2002 for their first home dual in over a month against Nebraska-Kearney and Findlay.
