Huskers Drop Regular Season Finale

Lincoln, Neb. - The 65th-ranked Nebraska women's tennis team dropped it regular season finale against 43rd-ranked Kansas State, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Wood Tennis Center. Nebraska finished the regular season with a 13-8 record and a 3-8 record in the Big 12 conference.

The lone victory for the Huskers came at the No. 2 singles, senior Katarina Balan defeated Kathy Chuda, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 1 spot freshman Gitte Ostermann won her first set 5-7 before droping the next two, 6-1, 6-2 to Alena Jecminkova. No. 3 Leslie Harvey lost to Petra Sedlmajerova, 6-1, 6-2. No. 4 Amy Frisch lost to Maria Rosenberg, 7-5, 6-1. No. 5, Rose Ketmayura lost to Andrea Cooper, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5. No. 6 Rebecca Harvey lost to Paulina Castillejos, 6-1, 6-4.

In doubles action, Kansas State won the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. No. 1 Balan and Ostermann lost to Jecminkova and Cooper, 8-4. No. 2 Anne Oehme and Ketmayura lost to Chuda and Castillejos, 8-4. No. 3 Harvey and Frisch lost to Rosenberg and Sedlmajerova, 8-5.

The Huskers are next in action April 25-28 when they travel to College Station, Texas for the Big 12 Conference tournament.
