Huskers Begin First Day of Track Meets

The Nebraska men's and women's track team competed in three meets across the nation as events got started Friday afternoon.

Husker junior Phil Leuking placed third at the Kansas Relays in the shot put with a mark of 52-6 while freshman redshirt Kevin Johnson placed fourth with a throw of 52-4 3/4. Other Huskers competing in the Kansas Relays were sophomore Na'Tassia Vice who placed sixth and cleared a height of 5-7 1/4 in the high jump, and junior Emily Wolken who threw 142-09 in the javelin throw and placed eighth.

Senior Lesley Owusu, junior Shelley-Ann Brown and sophomore Kyle Odvody participated in the Pamonoa-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, Calif. while senior Daniel Johnson competed in the long jump at the Mt. Sac Relay's. Results for both meets were not made available until late Friday night.

Results from both the Pamonoa-Pitzer Invitational and Mt. Sac Relays will be included in Saturday's release.
