Huskers Ousted By Buffaloes, 4-3

Lincoln- The 52nd ranked women's tennis team lost a 4-3 heartbreaker to 75th ranked Colorado, Sunday afternoon at the Woods Tennis Center. The loss drops Nebraska to 8-4 overall and 1-4 in the Big 12 Conference. Colorado improves to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the Big 12 Conference.

In singles action, No.1 Gitte Ostermann suffered a wrist injury while leading 2-0 in the third set before being forced to retire to Lia Domingo, 1-6, 6-3, 2-0 (Ret). No. 2 Katarina Balan defeated Dominique Lemperle, 6-3, 6-4. No. 3 Leslie Harvey lost to Kate Lutgert, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. No. 4 Amy Frisch defeated Morgan Sall, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. No. 5 Rose Ketmayura lost to Kendra Strandemo, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. No. 6 Anne Oehme defeated Tracey Moore, 6-0, 6-7 (7-4), 6-4.

In doubles action, at No. 1 Ostermann and Balan defeated Domingo and Lemperle, 8-3. No. 2 Harvey and Ketmayura lost to Strandemo and Sarah Burrows, 8-5. No. 3 Frisch and Tomkiewicz lost to Sall and Laruen Carey, 8-6.

"We're a little disappointed in ourselves today, we just didn't get it done." Said Jacobson "We didn't show up in doubles and that's an area we need to improve in."

Nebraska returns to action on Monday, March 18, 2002, when they travel to Newport Beach, Calif. to take on Connecticut.
