Huskers Win Fourth Straight, Improve to 7-1

Lincoln -- The 53rd-ranked Nebraska's women tennis team defeated Northern Iowa, 7-0 to improve to 7-1 on the season Sunday afternoon at the Woods Tennis Center.

Senior Amy Frisch, who won her third straight match to improve to 4-4 on the season, led the Huskers with two wins. Frisch, playing No. 3 singles defeated Carrie Amsbaugh, 6-3, 6-1. In doubles action Frisch teamed up Katarina Balan at No. 2 to defeated Archana Reddy and Jessica Landes, 8-1.

"It was good tennis today by everybody." Said Frisch "I thought I played pretty good today."

At No. 1 singles, Balan defeated Jessica Landes, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Leslie Harvey defeated Reddy at No. 3 single, 6-0, 6-1 to improve to 6-2 on the season. Anne Oehme defeated Jamie Noyce at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1. No. 5 Rose Ketmayura defeated Mercedes Pollmeier, 6-0, 6-1. No. 6 singles Stacey Tomkiewicz defeated Kelly Maifield, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles action, No. 1 Harvey and Ketmayura defeated Landes and Amsbaugh, 8-6. No. 3 doubles, Tomkiewiciz and Quaye, 8-1.

Nebraska returns to action next Wednesday February 24, 2002 when they host intra-state rival Creighton at Woods Tennis Center at 10 a.m.
