Huskers Host First Outdoor Home Dual

Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska women's tennis team won their first home outdoor dual against Oklahoma, 6-1, at Cather-Pound Courts on Saturday.

The Huskers started out strong, taking two wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to give NU the first point of the dual. For the second straight week, freshmen Leslie Harvey and Rose Ketmayura played the No. 1 spot and had their hands full, losing 8-4 to Viviana Mracnova and Melissa Mendieta. At both the No. 2 and 3 spots NU pulled out close wins of 8-6.

In singles action, Nebraska was one win away from sweeping the singles matches. Leslie Harvey played a tough dual against Mracnova, losing 3-6, 7-6, 6-1, while senior Ndali Ijomah picked up her 13th win against Stephanie Sabjert, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Amy Frisch continued her winning streak by defeating Mendieta, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Ketmayura also continued her unbeaten streak, winning her 11th victory against Joni Helleland, 6-4, 6-4.

NU improves its record to 15-3 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12.The Huskers go back on the road next week with a duals at Iowa State on Friday and Colorado on Saturday.
