Waco, Texas -- The Nebraska women's tennis team ended their season, losing to No. 18 Baylor, 4-0, Friday in Waco, Texas.
"Baylor has a great program," Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. "One thing is nice about playing in the Big 12 is that there are great programs. We lost today, but we also got better."
The Bears took advantage of their home court advantage by taking the doubles point and gaining the early lead. At the No. 1 doubles spot, BU's Jahnavi Parekh and katja Kovac, rated No. 28, defeated the freshmen Leslie Harvey and Rose Ketmayura, 8-2.
Baylor picked
up quick wins at the No. 1, 3 and 6 spot, which ended play at
the No. 2, 4 and 5 spot. At the No. 3 spot, Vida Mulec was able
to beat senior Ndali Ijomah, 6-4, 6-1. Ijomah defeated No. 83
Mulec in the two teams first meeting of 2001. Ketmayura, at the
No. 6 spot, and Leslie Harvey, at the No. 1 spot where the other
matches that were played out. Parekh defeated Harvey, 6-2, 6-0,
at the No. 1 spot, and Frida Borjesson defeated Ketmayura, 6-1,
6-2, at the No. 6 spot.
In the first meeting, Baylor defeated Nebraska, 5-2. Nebraska
ends its season 20-6, which is the most wins since Coach Jacobson
took over as head coach.
