Lincoln, Neb. -- The No. 50 Nebraska women's tennis team had its hands full with No. 13 Baylor, losing 5-2, Saturday, in Lincoln.
The Bears came to Lincoln with three ranked singles players and handed Nebraska its fourth loss of the season.
"Baylor out competed us today," Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. "They have a lot of talent." Baylor jumped out to a quick lead by winning all three doubles matches and gaining the doubles point.
In singles action, NU's Ndali Ijomah got a big win against No. 86 Vida Mulec, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot. "I felt pretty good," senior Ijomah said concerning her play. "I was a little calmer and took more time. Also being at home makes a difference."
"Ndali has been able to play at a high level," Jacobson said. "She is ending her season with a lot of positive energy." Ijomah improved her record to 17-3 in 2001.
The other Husker point came at the No. 4 spot, where junior Amy Frisch got back on the winning track by defeating Karin Andersson, 6-3, 6-0. Frisch improves her record to 19-3 and leads the team in most wins for 2001.
With the loss, the Huskers' record is 18-4 overall and 5-4 in the Big 12. The Huskers are currently rated No. 6 in the Big 12. The Huskers will face No. 12 Oklahoma State at 10 a.m. on Sunday at Cather Pound Courts, pending weather conditions.
