College Station, Texas -- The Nebraska men's tennis team lost 7-0 to a strong Texas A&M team, late Saturday night, at College Station, Texas.
The Aggies, ranked No. 6 in the nation, proved to be too much for the 9-13 Huskers. "We got a bit over powered," Head Coach Kerry McDermott said. "They are a good team. They deserved to win."
NU was unable to grab a point in any match. At the No. 1 singles spot, A&M's No. 19 Shuon Madden defeated Nebraska's Jorge Abos Sanches, 6-1, 6-1. Lance Mills gave No. 92 Keith From a challenge but lost 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 2 singles spot.
Adnan Hadzialic went the distance with Ryan Newport, but lost 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, at the No. 3 singles spot.
With the win over Nebraska, Texas A&M wins the Big 12 Championship outright. The Huskers, now 3-5 in the conference, will get the No. 6 seed in the Big 12 tournament and play Texas.
"We look forward to the Big 12 tournament," Coach McDermott stated.
