No. 49 Huskers Improve Big 12 Record to 2-2

Lubbock, Texas -- The Nebraska women's tennis team improved their record to 14-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big 12 after defeating Texas Tech, 6-1, in Lubbock, Texas on Sunday.

The Huskers got off to a slow start in the doubles, winning only the No. 2 doubles match. Freshmen Leslie Harvey (San Diego, Calif.) and Elissa Kinard (Charleston, S.C.) easily handled Tech's Dana Giles and Sonnia Orellana, 6-2, 6-1. Balan and freshman Rose Ketmayura (Austin, Texas) had their hands full at the No. 1 spot with Beverly Dawson and Tereschenko, losing, 8-1.

Despite the slow start, the Huskers dominated singles play. Leslie Harvey won her first match over a rated player when she defeated No. 80 Irina Tereschenko, 6-2, 6-1. Junior Amy Frisch (Crescent, Ky.) picked up her 15th win of the season. Frisch leads the Huskers in wins, while senior Ndali Ijomah (Seattle, Wash.) and junior Katarina Balan (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) have12 wins each.

The Husker next dual will be Sunday, April 1 at No. 72 Kansas State.
