Nebraska Women's Tennis Team Continues to Roll

Lincoln, Neb.-- The Nebraska women's tennis team continued its winning ways, defeating Indiana State 7-0 Saturday at Woods Tennis Center.

NU's doubles teams once again got the Huskers off to a good start downing the Sycamores 3-0, and the winning continued into the singles matches, where Nebraska went 6-0.

Junior Amy Frisch continued to play extremely well in both singles and doubles, defeating Laure Whitney, 6-0, 6-0.

"Team captain Amy Frisch played lights out," Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. "She has been playing really great for us all spring."

Frisch (Crescent, Ky.) defeated Laura Whitney, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 4 spot. In other singles action, Leslie Harvey (San Diego, Calif.) defeated Karen Human, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot, and Katarina Balan (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) defeated Jen Earl, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. At the No. 3 spot, Elissa Kinard (Charleston, S.C.) defeated Lori Wilson, 6-3, 6-2, while at the No. 5 spot, Rebecca Harvey (San Diego, Calif.) defeated Lisa Herndon, 6-2, 6-0. Rose Ketmayura (Austin, Texas) rounded out singles action, defeating Carla Daniela Garcia, 6-7 (7-4), 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles action, Balan and Ketmayura defeated Human and Earl at the No. 1 spot, 8-6, while L. Harvey and Kinard teamed up to defeat Wilson and Logan Becker 8-6 at the No. 2 spot. Ndali Ijomah and Frisch defeated Herndon and Whitney, 8-3, at the No. 3 spot.

The Huskers are now 7-0, and their next dual will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at Woods Tennis Center.
