Boca Raton, Fla. - The Nebraska team posted a 3-1 record competing in competition at Florida Atlantic on Wednesday.
The Huskers (0-1) defeated Florida Atlantic, 188-89, Pennsylvania 186-93 and Virginia Tech 156-125 but were defeated by 25th ranked Purdue 132-148.
NU took home ten individual titles, with senior All-American Beth Karaica winning the 50-yard butterfly (26.24) the 100-yard freestyle (52.96) and the 50-yard freestyle (23.90). Freshman Rebecca Wolfe earned a victory in the 150-yard butterfly in a time of 1:31.68.
Nebraska also regain the services of sophomore All-American Elvira Fischer, who along with sophomore Keri Hehn place 1-2 in the 150-yard breaststroke in times of 1:41.74 and 1:42.56 respectively. Hehn also added a first-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.69. Freshman Jackie Lobdell, raced to a first-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle with a time of 8:09.93, more that eight second in front of the second place finisher.
Sophomore All-American Lindsey Highstrom added two first-place finishes in the 50-yard butterfly and the 50-yard backstroke in times of 26.69 and 27.11. Freshmen Kristen Souppa earned a first-place finish in the 300-yard IM in a time of 3:24.99.
The Nebraska swimming and diving team travels to Ames, Iowa, Saturday, Jan. 13, for the opening of Big 12 action as the Huskers face off against Iowa State.
