Latham Scores Twice as Huskers Shutout Baylor

Waco, Texas - Sophomore forward Christine Latham recorded her third multiple-goal game of the season and senior goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc notched her third consecutive shutout as the Nebraska soccer team rolled to a 3-0 victory over Baylor at Baylor Soccer Field on Friday evening. The Huskers improved to 9-0-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in the Big 12 Conference, while the Bears dropped to 3-4-1 and 0-1-0.

Latham, the conference leader in goals, scored her ninth and 10th of the season against BU goalkeeper Dawn Greathouse, a preseason All-Big 12 selection. Her first came from 18 yards out on a pass from redshirt freshman Paige Phillips, while her second goal came on a give-and-go from Kelly Rheem.

LeBlanc, a preseason All-American and Hermann Trophy Candidate, upped her shutout total to 5.5 games while recording six saves against the Bears. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia native has now posted 330:22 scoreless minutes.

Senior Jenny Benson scored the Huskers first goal 9:39 into the game on a pass from Shannon Tanaka. The goal was Benson's third of the season.

The Huskers will take the field again on Sunday when they play host to Creighton in a 7 p.m. contest at the Abbott Sports Complex.
