Huskers Pound Weber State, 6-1

Boise, Idaho -- The Nebraska men's tennis team survived its first round match against Weber State winning by a score of 6-1 at the Boise State Invitational late Thursday. This win improves the Huskers' record to 7-6 on the season.

Huskers singles players Jorge Abos Sanchez (No. 1), Kai Rieke (No. 2), Adnan Hadzialic (No. 3), Fungai Tongoona (No. 4), and Ryan Haith (No. 6) each recorded straight set wins. Weber State's only point came when No. 5 Huskers singles Andrew Wiese lost to Bruins' Daniel Salvato, 6-4, 6-3.

Nebraska swept up in doubles competition with No. 1 doubles team of Weise/Rieke defeating Weber State's Erickson/DeLancey, 8-3. Tongoona/Abos Sanchez (No.2 doubles) beat Scheeper/Tran, 8-6, and No. 3 doubles team of Haith/Hadzialic stomped on Salvato/Rowse, 8-1.

The Huskers will play their second round match against No. 38 University of Alabama at Birmingham today at 2 p.m. CST.
