Kansas City, Mo. -- Led by freshman Nicole Allaire, the Nebraska rifle team claimed the top four places in both the air rifle and smallbore disciplines on Sunday. The competition, hosted by the University of Missouri-Kansas City, marked the third victory in as many matches for the Huskers.
Allaire, who claimed her third smallbore title of the season, shot a 1,154 out of a possible 1,200. Fellow freshman Amanda Trujillo took second with a 1,145 while Victoria Ridge took third firing a 1,118. Rachel Spiry, a Lincoln East graduate, shot a 1,110 to take fourth place. Nebraska took the smallbore title with a combined score of 4,527 out of a possible 4,800. UMKC shot a 4,122.
Competing against the host school and Austin-Peay State University in the air rifle competition, Nebraska was again able to capture the top four places. Allaire fired a 389 out of a possible 400 to take the title, her second of the season. Trujllo shot a 386, Terim Richards a 384 and Spiry a 381 to take second, third and fourth, respectively. Ridge shot a 357. Nebraska fired a 1,540 out of a possible 1,600 to take the team title in air rifle, their second of the season. Austin-Peay State shot a 1,414 while UMKC finished with a 1,393.
