Portland, Ore. -- The University of Nebraska wrestling team improved to 2-0 on the season with a dominating performance over Portland State, 46-3, Friday night. The 46 points were the most points scored in a dual by the Huskers since a 49-6 victory over Bloomsburg last season.
After James Pummel dropped his 157-pound match against Ryan Thomas, 4-3, redshirt freshman Jacob Klein started the Huskers on a roll with a major decision win at 165 pounds over Eric Arbogast, 18-6.
Sophomore Travis Pascoe struggled in his match against Quinn Collett but managed to outlast his opponent, 17-11 at 174 pounds. True freshman Kyle Gubbels won his first career varsity match via forfeit at 184 pounds.
Sixth-ranked B.J. Padden wrestled in place of an injured Justin Ruiz at 197 pounds, recording a medical injury forfeit over Randy Davidson.
