The Nebraska rifle team edged UMKC 6,132 to 6,061 in a dual at the Nebraska Indoor Rifle and Pistol Range on Saturday. The Huskers tallied team scores of 4,609 in smallbore and 1,523 in air rifle.
The Huskers were led by junior Melissa Downsbrough, who won the individual air rifle competition with a score of 391, her highest mark this season. Senior Amanda Trujillo fired a 387 to place second overall, while sophomore Alicia Sawyer earned fifth place with a 375 and junior Karen Aspden finished eighth with a score of 370.
Downsbrough also claimed a share of the smallbore title, firing another season-high of 1,164 to tie with UMKC
