Rodger DeGarmo begins his second stint with the athletic performance team, taking over as the Bob Devaney Sports Center strength coach. DeGarmo will work directly with the men's basketball team and the swimming and diving team. He will also oversee the Devaney Center strength staff and facilities.
DeGarmo returns after two years as strength coach at a private clinic and instructor at St. Louis C.C. Prior to moving to St. Louis, he spent three years as the Devaney Center strength coach after one year as a graduate assistant. He was a strength coach and athletic trainer at Xavier University from 1992 to 1996.
A native of Sullivan, Ill., DeGarmo has been heavily involved with Olympic weightlifting as an athlete and coach for more than a decade, where he was an American and collegiate champion. He has coached former Husker thrower Doreen Heldt, who was a two-time Pan American Games
