Richard Chery joined Nebraska Athletics in August of 2024 as the Associate Director of Capital Planning, Construction and Facilities and was promoted to the Director of the Sports Center Complex in August of 2025.
In this role, he oversees the operations, logistics and capital projects for the Bob Devaney Sports Center Complex, including the Outdoor Track, Hibner Stadium, Dillon Tennis Center and Haymarket Park. He helped lead the completion of more than $60+ million in capital projects and facility upgrades in 2025. He also serves as one of the sport administrators for the Track and Field program.
Chery comes to the Huskers after serving the University of Nevada as the Associate Athletic Director of Facilities. At Nevada, Chery oversaw the daily operations across the athletic facilities district, including equipment and personnel. He was instrumental in bolstering departmental staffing, policies and procedures. Chery led multiple high-impact projects totaling over $35 million during his time at Nevada.
Prior to Nevada, Chery worked for the University of Miami (FL) as the Associate Director of Events and Operations. He supervised maintenance, housekeeping, groundskeeping, and building security, and he oversaw third-party security staff and schedules. Chery directed event management for soccer, track and field and rowing while spearheading maintenance, repairs and upgrades for numerous facilities.
Chery also had stops at Stratus (Vendor Project Manager), University of South Florida (Athletic Management of Events and Facilities), Saint Leo University (Event Coordinator), University of Tampa (Compliance) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Guest Relations).
A Miami, Florida native, Chery earned his bachelor's degree in sport management and his MBA in project management from Saint Leo University. He also is a graduate of the 2026 NCAA Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute.
