Padyn Borders is in fifth season on the Husker basketball staff, and first as an assistant coach after serving as recruiting coordinator for two years.
Borders was one of NU’s assistant coaches on staff during the Huskers’ run to the College Basketball Crown tournament in 2025. He assists in many day-to-day aspects in the program, including game planning, opponent scouting and skill development. As the Huskers’ recruiting coordinator, Borders works with the operations staff in coordinating on-campus visits and works with the general manager in managing the recruiting landscape for the Huskers with a focus on the NCAA transfer portal, including implementing and managing NU’s recruiting database and assisting with recruiting research.
Borders took part in the 2024 NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy, as he was one of 50 men’s and women’s basketball coaches nationally to be invited to this prestigious event.
Before joining the staff in a full-time capacity, he served as a graduate manager in 2022-23, where he helped the coaching staff with day-to-day operations, including practices, film breakdown and other on-campus duties. A Broken Bow, Neb., native, Borders served as one of the Huskers’ team managers for the 2021-22 season, where he helped in day-to-day operations of the program.
Borders played collegiately at both Central Community College and Peru State before transferring to Nebraska for his final two years of college. At Peru State, he was a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2020. He received his degree in business administration from Nebraska in 2022 and his master’s degree in educational administration from Nebraska in May of 2024.
