Nick Burkhardt joined Nebraska Athletics as the Director of Creative & Emerging Media in October of 2018 and served in that position until September 2024, leading the Huskers in all aspects of social media strategy, social media management, digital content creation and print design. The Creative & Emerging Media department at Nebraska is comprised of a full-time staff and student work force looking to amplify recruiting and administrative efforts in elevating the Husker brand while providing general communication to recruits and fans.
Prior to Nebraska, Burkhardt served as the Director of Video Production for the University of Nebraska-Omaha Athletic department. At Omaha, Burkhardt oversaw the construction of their broadcast, live-event control room within Baxter Arena, UNO’s brand new $90 million dollar facility and also launched Omaha Video, UNO’s first in-house video production department. As UNO transitioned to Division I, he played a pivotal role in redefining Omaha’s brand in the social media space, on television and in-venue.
Before Omaha, Burkhardt worked at UCF as a Senior Video Producer covering the football program, producing television, big screen and social media video content. While in Orlando, he covered the Knights internationally as they traveled to Dublin, Ireland, to play Penn State.
A native of Hebron, Neb., Nick graduated from Nebraska in 2014 with his bachelor’s in journalism & minor in math.
