Nedu Izuegbunam served Nebraska Athletics as an athletic counselor from August of 2020 until July 2024. Izuegbunam’s work focused on assisting student-athletes, both in individual and in group settings, in developing and enriching skills towards performance enhancement and mental health.
Izuegbunam worked with the Huskers’ bowling, cross country, swim & dive, track & field, women’s gymnastics and wrestling teams. Izuegbunam helped oversee programing for substance-use and is the liaison between the Sport Psychology Department and Life Skills Department.
Izuegbunam graduated from Springfield College (Mass.) in May of 2017 with a Master of Education Degree in Athletic Counseling, and remained one more year to complete course requirements for Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Prior to returning to Nebraska, the Omaha native worked with UCONN students and clients across the surrounding community as a Program Lead to help promote wellness through holistic behavioral healthcare. Izuegbunam received his Bachelors of Journalism Degree at Nebraska’s College of Journalism in December of 2014 and majored in both Broadcasting and Psychology.
