Nate Pohlen joined the Nebraska Athletic Communications staff in September of 2014. He is the primary media contact for the Husker volleyball and beach volleyball programs and assists with the track and field program.
At Nebraska, Pohlen has helped coordinate all media and communications efforts for Nebraska volleyball's 2015 and 2017 NCAA Championship seasons, as well as five Big Ten titles during his time with the program. Pohlen served as Nebraska's sports information director for the world-record women's sporting attendance of 92,003 on Aug. 30, 2023 in Memorial Stadium. He was also the communications point person for Nebraska's ESPN E:60 documentary, "No Place Like Nebraska," and the Big Ten Network's "The B1G Story: Nebraska Volleyball."
In his role, Pohlen was the media coordinator for the 2015, 2020 and 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championships in Omaha, as well as the 2016 Big Ten Track and Field Championships in Lincoln.
Pohlen came to Nebraska from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he spent four years as the contact for women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and men’s tennis. He also spent one season with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
Pohlen graduated from Nebraska in May 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in news-editorial. He was a student assistant in the Nebraska communications office for three years, working with the men’s golf and rifle teams.
Nate and his wife, Toni, have five children: Rose, Giovanni, Abigail, Luke and Maximilian.
