Mikey Daniel spent one season as a developmental performance quality control coach at Nebraska in 2023.
Daniel joined Nebraska following a professional career as a fullback and running back. He played the 2022 season for the Pittsburgh Maulers in the United States Football League (USFL). Daniel spent two seasons in the National Football League, signing with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020 and the Carolina Panthers in 2021, when Matt Rhule was the Panthers’ head coach.
A South Dakota native, Daniel was a running back at South Dakota State from 2015 to 2019. He played in 48 games in his career, rushing for 1,728 yards and 29 touchdowns while catching 15 passes for 73 yards and one score. He ranked second on the team in rushing yards (535) and rushing touchdowns (7) in his final season in 2019. The year before, Daniel also ranked second on the team in rushing yards (630) and rushing touchdowns (10). He led the team with 11 rushing touchdowns in 2017 while rushing for 482 yards.
Daniel earned his degree in sports management from South Dakota in 2022. He and his wife, Makenzye, have one daughter, Khalessi.
