Mike McCann joined the Nebraska track and field coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2018-19. McCann assists in coaching the men's sprints, hurdles and relays, as well as the high jump.
McCann competed on the Nebraska track and field team from 2014-18. He was a second-team All-American in the high jump during the 2017 outdoor season, finishing 13th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Smithtown, New York native had his best Big Ten Championships finish during the 2017 outdoor season as well, finishing sixth for the second time in his career. McCann cleared a personal-best 7-2 1/2 (2.20m) on April 8, 2017, tied for the eighth-best mark in NU outdoor history. McCann won three individual high jump events during his Husker career.
McCann graduated from the University of Nebraska in May 2018 with a degree in child, youth & family studies.
