Mike Heredia joined the Nebraska coaching staff in July of 2018.
In his first season he helped coach two All-Americans in Taylor Houchin who was a second team NACGC/W regular season All-American on uneven bars and Sienna Crouse who was named second team All-American in the all-around. Heredia was also named WCGA South Central Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019. Heredia coached 12 different Huskers who set or tied career highs this season, including 45 career highs that were broken.
Heredia was a student-athlete at Nebraska in 2010, competing on floor exercise and vault. His best finish came against Ohio State, UIC and Air Force, as he placed third on vault with a season-high score of 15.75. He transferred to Oklahoma and became an All-American on vault in 2012. As a Sooner he was also a 2012 Big Twelve Conference champion and was part of a team that posted back-to-back NCAA runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2012.
After graduating, Heredia was an assistant coach for Iowa men's gymnastics team where he coached two All-Americans on rings as well as a Big Ten champion on rings. The Hawkeyes finished fifth that season and was the highest finish since 2006.
He co-founded and has co-coached Fuzion Gymnastics in Kearney, Mo, since 2013 and has graduated 14 gymnasts to college level competition. In 2018 Heredia led two level 10 teams to state championships.
