Dr. Matthew Beacom joined Nebraska Athletics in 2023 and serves as a team physician for the Nebraska football team. A native of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, Dr. Beacom has practiced medicine in Fremont for more than 25 years.
Dr. Beacom earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and his M.D. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he subsequently completed his residency in family medicine.
Throughout his career, Dr. Beacom has been actively involved in sports medicine at all levels of competition. Prior to joining Nebraska Athletics in Lincoln, he served as Associate Athletic Director for Performance at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Beacom enjoys spending time with his wife, Carrie, and their five children and is beginning to enjoy the next generation of family life with his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys family, sports, the outdoors, and woodworking.
