Kelse Johnson, LIMHP is in her first year at Nebraska as an Athletic Counselor, joining the staff in August 2024.
Johnson works with several Husker programs including bowling, rifle, tennis, swim and dive, gymnastics, track and field, and cross country. In her role, she provides mental health and psychological skills for sport services to Husker student-athletes as well as consultation and education for athletes, coaches, and staff. Johnson serves as the departments coordinator of student athlete alliance groups such as the International Student Athlete Alliance, Black Student Athlete Alliance, Athlete Ally, and weekly yoga.
Prior to joining Nebraska Athletics, Johnson worked in private practice and community mental health as an independently licensed mental health therapist providing care to all ages from early childhood to adult. She completed her clinical practicum and internship experience in Ohio split between inpatient, outpatient, and school based mental health settings.
Johnson swam for Ohio University where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Special Education moderate to intensive needs, followed by a master's degree in clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling.
