Katie Brown was hired full-time in January of 2013 as Nebraska's first director of softball operations. In her fifth season, Brown helps coordinate team travel and runs Nebraska's camps and clinics, among many other duties. Brown, who earned her master's degree in higher education administration from Nebraska in 2013, served as a volunteer coach for the Huskers in 2012.
Brown brought Big Ten experience to Lincoln, as she was a four-year starter at Iowa from 2007 to 2010. A two-time All-Big Ten selection, Brown garnered first-team honors in 2008 and second-team accolades in 2009. She started 175 games and posted a .282 batting average in her Hawkeye career with 20 home runs. Brown ended her career ranked fifth in Iowa history in home runs and tied for 12th with 31 career doubles. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and health and sports studies from Iowa in 2011.
