Jessie DeZiel returns to Nebraska as a volunteer assistant announced by Head Coach Heather Brink.
DeZiel has spent last season as an assistant at Illinois primarily coaching balance beam and before that had spent two years as an assistant at Ball State coaching primarily floor exercise, while also assisting with vault in balance beam. At Illinois, she helped the Illini to a second-place finish in the Big Ten, as well as a third place finish at the NCAA Ann Arbor Super Regional. With the Cardinals she led their floor lineup to their all-time high score of 49.500, as well as coaching Tia Kiaku in 2018, guiding her to individual competition at the NCAA Columbus Regional.
At Nebraska, DeZiel was a nine time All-American for the Huskers, as well as being named 2015 Nebraska Female Student-Athlete of the Year. She was a four-time first-team All-Big Ten performer and was nominated for the AAI Award, which honors the best female gymnast in the country.
A native of Rogers, Minn., she graduated in 2015 with a degree in nutrition, exercise and health science.
