Gable Johnson worked in Nebraska Athletics' academic department from 2021 to 2023. He began his tenure as a graduate assistant in January of 2021 before he moved to the role of assistant academic counselor in July of 2021. Johnson served the Huskers as an academic specialist for his final two years on staff.
In his role, Johnson worked alongside both learning specialists and academic counselors, taking on the roles of advising and mentorship of student-athletes, teaching academic skill building and best practices, managing daily operations of the tutor program and assisting with other duties as assigned by the department.
A native of Earlham, Iowa, Johnson graduated from Simpson College in May of 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in sport administration and business management, minoring in coaching. During his undergraduate studies, he worked as both the player development coach for men’s basketball and as an undergraduate assistant for Facilities Scheduling. His other campus involvement included FCA, Sport Administration Club and Sport Administration Department Mentorship.
Johnson earned his Master of Arts in Business with a specialization in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration (MAIAA) from Nebraska’s College of Business in December of 2021.
