Drew Hamblin is entering his 13th season with the Nebraska football program in 2026 and currently serves as the Huskers’ head football athletic trainer. In this role, he oversees all aspects of athletic medicine for the team, including year-round injury prevention, immediate care during practices and games, and the rehabilitation and reconditioning of injured student-athletes.
Before joining Nebraska, Hamblin spent three seasons as an assistant athletic trainer at Auburn University from 2011 to 2013, working with the Tigers’ football program. He previously served as the Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer at Newberry College in South Carolina. Hamblin also gained NFL experience in 2009 as a seasonal athletic trainer with the Buffalo Bills.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Hamblin holds certifications in Functional Movement Screen, DARI Motion Capture, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation, Dry Needling and other areas of sports medicine.
A native of Madison, Wis., Hamblin earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology-athletic training from the University of Wisconsin in 2007 and his master’s degree in sports management from the University of Arkansas in 2009.
Outside of work, Drew and his wife, Heather, are raising four children and a zoo of animals.
