Clark MacLean joined Nebraska Athletics as the Director of Event Management in October of 2024. In his role, MacLean serves as the primary event manager for softball, men's and women's gymnastics, and bowling as well as being responsible for the visiting team, officials, Legacy Walk, and gate set up on football game day. In addition to his sport responsibilities, he hires, schedules, and supervises the over 600 event staff across all Nebraska athletics events. MacLean also oversees the undergraduate event management internship program. During his time at Nebraska, he has served as the tournament director for the 2026 NCAA Softball Lincoln Regional, Super Regional, and the 2026 Big Ten Men's Gymnastics Championships.
Prior to Nebraska, MacLean served as Assistant Director of Event and Game Operations at the University of Oklahoma from November 2022 until October 2024. He was the primary event manager for volleyball, men's & women's gymnastics, and track as well as secondary oversight for men's and women's basketball. While with the Sooners, MacLean oversaw stadium command, guest services, and the walk of champions (home team arrival) on football game days. He also served as tournament director at the 2023 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Norman Regional, 2023 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, 2024 Big 12 Women's Gymnastics Championships and the 2024 MPSF Men's Gymnastics Championships.
MacLean also served as an athletic event manager at Iowa State University from August 2021 until November 2022. His primary sport responsibilities included soccer, gymnastics, track, and softball. MacLean was responsible for producing and managing all credentials for Hilton Coliseum. He was responsible for oversight of the event management internship program and served as the tournament director for the 2022 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championship.
From February 2019 until August 2021, MacLean worked as the Coordinator of Facilities and Event Management at Marquette University. His primary sport responsibilities included volleyball, track, soccer, and lacrosse. MacLean oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Al McGuire Center including arena conversions and special events. He was responsible for maintaining the athletic facility master schedule, conducting small repairs and capital projects and oversaw the athletic vehicle fleet including scheduling and repairs. MacLean also served as the tournament manager for the 2019 Big East Volleyball Championship.
A native of Holland, Michigan, Clark earned his bachelor's degree (2016) and master's degree (2018) from Michigan State University. During his time in East Lansing, MacLean interned with the Michigan State event management staff working with the Spartan soccer, football, basketball, field hockey, and baseball programs. His hobbies include reading, coaching youth hockey and golfing poorly.
