Cedric Willems will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the Nebraska men's tennis team during the 2022 spring season.
Willems, a native of The Hague, The Netherlands, played his freshman season at Clemson before transferring to Utah for his last years. Before joining the Tigers, he won the Dutch Junior National Indoor Championship in 2011 and was consistently ranked in the top 10 in the Netherlands junior division. While at Clemson, he totaled nine singles wins and three doubles wins in his lone season.
In his sophomore year with the Utes, he posted a team best 14-6 record in singles play. His junior year, he posted six singles wins and a record of 11-11 in doubles with duo partner Slim Hamza. Willems regularly competed near the top of the lineup for singles and doubles matches during his time at Utah. In his senior year, he was voted by the team to be team captain. Willems competed in the No. 1 spot for singles and doubles the majority of the year. He also qualified for regionals in the fall, advancing to the semifinals.
Since his playing days, Willems has coached at Cottonwood country club as well as a club in the Netherlands before coming to Lincoln.
