Brandon Meier is in his eighth year at Nebraska since returning in 2018 and was promoted to Deputy Athletic Director, External Affairs in July 2026. Meier sits on Athletic Director Troy Dannen’s leadership team and oversees several external units, including Marketing and Fan Experience, Social Media Strategy & Creative Production, HuskerVision and Husker Spirit Squad. He also handles multimedia rights partnership with PlayFly and is the Athletic Department liaison to the Big Ten Network and adidas.
Meier works on the Big Red Rebuild, Memorial Stadium modernization project and leads the department’s efforts around data analytics and artificial intelligence. Outside of his work in athletics, Meier serves on the board of directors for The American Red Cross.
Meier rejoined Nebraska Athletics in October of 2018 as the Senior Associate A.D. for Marketing & Multimedia. In 2025, he led the efforts to build out a new multimedia headquarters in North Stadium. This $13.5-million, 22,000-square foot production facility brought HuskerVision, Social and Digital Media, Husker Radio Network and Photography into one dedicated creative space, creating the premier media production facility in college athletics. He also played a major role in the creation of the Cornhusker Kickoff, a pregame interactive area in the Hawks Championship Center that features concerts, talks from Nebraska coaches, kids’ activities and licensed merchandise for fans to purchase.
In 2023, Meier led the efforts to organize and execute Volleyball Day in Nebraska and produced a book titled, “Memorial Stadium: 100 Years Through These Gates”. Known for his expertise in marketing and fan experience, Meier’s creative team transformed the Memorial Stadium game day experience in 2018, introducing the stadium light show which included fireworks, pyrotechnics, lasers, drones and programmed LED stadium lights.
A Nebraska native, Meier returned to his state after working for more than a decade at the University of Oklahoma. During his stint in Norman under Joe Castiglione, Meier led a media transformation in intercollegiate athletics. During his tenure, OU became an industry leader in a variety of areas including TV production, video board production, digital signage and video streaming over a variety of digital platforms.
With 17 full-time and 100 part-time employees, many of whom were students, Meier oversaw one of the largest broadcast departments in college or professional sports. While Meier's cutting-edge approach and commitment to excellence put OU at or near the top of video and television production at the intercollegiate athletics level, his impact was much greater on those who worked with him. He served as an adjunct professor at the Gaylord College of Journalism and actively cultivated a strong, working relationship with the students.
Among the projects that flourished under Meier's leadership was the creation of the first University-produced TV partnership with FOX Sports. The partnership resulted in more than 2,000 hours of OU content on FOX Linear TV platforms in the first year of Sooner Sports TV in 2012-13. He and his team produced more than 110 live Oklahoma Athletics events for television in 2013-14, expanding the visibility of the Sooner teams, the access for Sooner fans and giving real-world experience to the many students who work with SoonerVision.
Meier produced and directed three documentaries on the history of OU football. He was literally involved in this project from the beginning as he and his staff oversaw the transfer of disintegrating and rare 16mm canisters of film to digital files and then cataloging all the miles and miles of film to produce one of the most comprehensive video archives for one of the top football programs in the country.
Meier joined the NBA’s Houston Rockets in 2003, where he worked as the production manager/producer for four years. He operated the video and scoreboard systems inside the Toyota Center and led the in-game production for the Houston Rockets.
While earning his bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s in marketing from Nebraska, Meier worked as a student assistant and video producer for HuskerVision. Working under HuskerVision founder Jeff Schmahl, Meier was part of the first video production department in intercollegiate athletics. Before starting college at Nebraska, Meier worked as a photographer/reporter for KNOP-TV in his hometown of North Platte.
He and his wife Beth, have a son, Brady, and a daughter, Bailey.
