Brandon Gries enters his second season as an assistant media relations director at Nebraska in 2011-12.
Gries, a native of Paxton, Neb., handles all media relations for the Nebraska baseball and soccer teams. He previously served as the primary wrestling contact at Nebraska, assisting in NU's hosting of the 2010 NCAA Championships at the Qwest Center in Omaha.
Gries earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May 2008, with a double-major in broadcasting and news-editorial. During his time as an undergraduate, Gries worked as a media relations student-assistant as the primary contact for NU women's swimming and diving team and the men's and women's cross country teams.
He earned four CoSIDA national publication awards for his work on media guides for his sports. He also spent a summer as the beat reporter for the North Platte Legion baseball team for the North Platte Bulletin.
Before rejoining the athletic media relations office at Nebraska as an intern in the fall of 2009, Gries spent one season as a production assistant for the Husker Sports Network in 2008-09.
