Austin Whipple is in his first season as a Nebraska offensive quality control coach in 2022. Prior to Nebraska, Whipple served as an offensive assistant coach at Pittsburgh for the 2019 and 2021 seasons. Whipple also served as the assistant director of football operations at Massachusetts in 2018.
Whipple was a collegiate quarterback a Penn State (2013) and UMass (2014-15) before injuries forced him to retire from the sport. In 2014, Whipple played in six games with two starts and completed 25-of-48 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns.
Whipple earned his degree from UMass and finished his career as a student assistant coach. Austin played for his father at UMass, as Mark Whipple was the Minutemen’s head coach. Mark is currently Nebraska’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
