2014 • Junior Season Preview
Kailyn Hawkins is ready to make a run at the NU lineups after using last year as another year to adjust to a higher level of gymnastics. Kailyn’s strengths are on vault and floor, but she may be able to contribute on all four events for Nebraska.
2013 • Redshirt Freshman Season
Kailyn Hawkins used her redshirt freshman season to continue adjusting to the competition level of collegiate gymnastics. She made one appearance in exhibition on bars for the Huskers at the Masters Classic, earning a 9.750. Hawkins also took home her first academic All-Big Ten honor for the Big Red.
2012 • Freshman Season
Hawkins did not see any action for the Huskers in her first season. She was a strong performer in the classroom for the Big Red, earning NACGC/W Scholastic All-America Honors following the 2012 season.
Before Nebraska
Hawkins arrived at NU following a successful gymnastics career at Southeastern Gymnastics under coaches Ludmilla Shobe, Galina Meliakina and Nikolai Cherchen. A four-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier, Hawkins placed fourth on floor at the 2010 JO National Championships. In 2009, she placed third on vault, ninth on floor and 19th in the all-around at the JO National Championships. She took sixth in the all-around in 2008.
Hawkins graduated from Providence High School in 2011. She was a member of French Honors Society and was on the honor roll, posting a 4.0 GPA through all four years.
