2008 ? Senior Season

Desire' Sniatysnki formed a solid 1-2 punch in the all-around with fellow senior Emily Parsons, achieving career-highs on vault (9.90), bars (9.925), beam (9.875) and the all-around (39.45) in 2008. A four-time All-American, Sniatynski captured six bars titles and a pair of first-place finishes on beam. She was honored as Big 12 Gymnast of the Week on two occasions (Jan. 15, Feb. 26). The Kenosha, Wis, native set career highs on vault (9.90) against Missouri, bars (9.925) and the all-around (39.45) at Penn State and beam (9.875) at Oklahoma.

 

Sniatynski won her sixth bars title of the year at Penn State, scoring a career-high 9.925 to top her previous career best of 9.90, which she hit six times. Sniatynski also tied her career high in the all-around with a 39.45 to earn runner-up honors.

 

Sniatysnki completed her final season with a 12th-place showing in bars finals at  the NCAA Championships, scoring a 9.8375 and earning a first-team All-America honor. In the preliminary session, she tallied a score of 9.90 to tie for fourth. She added a 9.80 on floor, 9.70 on vault and 9.20 on beam. At the NCAA Southeast Regional, Sniatynski placed seventh on floor (9.85), eighth on bars (9.85) and ninth in the all-around (39.225). At the conference championships, she was named to the All-Big 12 Championship team after finishing third on bars (9.85) and fourth in the all-around (39.225). She was also named All-Big 12 on bars.

 

2007 ? Junior Season

Sniatynski emerged as one of <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska’s top all-around competitors in 2007. A three-time All-American on bars, she consistently ranked in the top 25 nationally on the event. After her career-high 39.375 all-around performance at Missouri, Sniatynski was recognized with her first career Big 12 Gymnast-of-the-Week award on Jan. 31.

 

Sniatynski finished fourth in the all-around (39.05) in the Huskers’ season opener at the Super Six Challenge in Fayetteville, Ark., notching a career best on bars with a 9.925 to tie for third-place honors with teammate Vanessa Meloche. Two weeks later at IowaState, Sniatynski was Nebraska’s top all-around finisher, placing second (38.925) behind ISU’s Janet Anson (39.125).

 

Sniatynski captured her first-ever all-around crown with a career-high 39.375 in NU’s win at Missouri. She added a 9.825 mark on vault to take fourth-place honors and tie her career best on the event, while also notching scores of 9.825 on beam and floor to finish fourth and sixth, respectively. Sniatynski was honored as Big 12 Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 31.

 

Sniatynski followed with a 39.25 score to place second against Oklahoma, when she also took a share of the floor title (9.85) with teammates Emily Parsons and Kylie Stone. In addition, Sniatynski finished second on bars (9.85) and third on vault (9.80).

 

Sniatynski took second in the all-around with a 39.225 against Utah, while also finishing second on bars (9.875). Against IowaState the following week, Sniatynski placed fourth on vault with a 9.825, as well as sixth on beam (9.80) and fifth on floor (9.825). She took second-place honors on bars (9.875) with fellow Husker Michele Zabawa against Kentucky on March 23, while adding a 9.825 on vault.

 

At the Big 12 Championships, Sniatynski tied for fourth on bars (9.85) to earn her second all-conference nod on the event and also finished seventh in the all-around with a 39.025. Sniatynski earned fifth-place honors on floor (9.85) at the NCAA West Regional and placed seventh in the all-around (39.10), followed by a 12th-place all-around finish (39.225) at the afternoon preliminary session of the NCAA Championships. One of four Husker All-Americans, she took second-team honors on bars with an eighth-place 9.85, in addition to marks of 9.80 on vault and floor and 9.775 on beam. In the Super Six Finals the following night, Sniatynski tallied a career-best 9.85 on vault, a career-high-tying 9.85 on beam and a 9.775 on floor to help Nebraska to a sixth-place national finish.

 

2006 ? Sophomore Season

Sniatynski was a solid three-event competitor for Nebraska as a sophomore, setting career bests on bars, beam, floor and the all-around. After earning All-Big 12 honors on bars and claiming the conference bars title with Vanessa Meloche, Sniatynski went on to earn second-team All-America accolades on bars for the second year in a row. She captured three individual event titles over the season, including two on bars and one on beam.

 

2005 ? Freshman Season

Sniatynski competed on vault and bars in 2005 and also earned time in Nebraska’s beam lineup. In her debut at Michigan, Sniatynski tied for third on beam with a season-high 9.825 and remained in the lineup for the first half of the season.

 

Sniatynski quickly became one of the Huskers’ most consistent performers on bars by posting a 9.75 or better in every meet. She captured five bars titles during the season, including two with 9.90 showings at Florida and against ISU. In addition, Sniatynski won the floor title with a 9.875 versus Minnesota and Air Force on March 6 in her first career floor appearance as a Husker.

 

Sniatynski scored a pair of 9.80s on vault and bars at the Big 12 Championships and added a season-best 9.825 on vault and a 9.85 on bars two weeks later at the NCAA South Central Regional. She then posted a 9.85 on bars that earned her second-team All-America honors and made her just the eighth freshman in Nebraska history to be named an All-American.

 

Before Nebraska

Sniatynski competed for Coach Randy Anderson at Scamps Gymnastics in Kenosha, Wis. A national TOPS team member in 1997, Sniatynski qualified for Junior Olympic Nationals six times and competed in Level 10 gymnastics for nine years. In 2001, Sniatynski took second place on the uneven bars at J.O. Nationals while also placing seventh in the all-around competition. She earned seventh place at J.O. Nationals again in 2002 with a score of 37.35.

 

Sniatynski chose the Huskers over Arkansas and LSU.

 

Personal

Desir? Sniatynski was born Dec. 11, 1985, in Kenosha, Wis., and is the daughter of John and Diane Sniatynski. She is a 2004 graduate of BradfordHigh School, where she was a member of the honor roll. Sniatynski, who is a communication studies major at Nebraska, has two brothers, Cooper and Mason.
