2012: Senior
Lauren Cook earned first-team All-America honors in 2012 and was an All-Mideast Region pick • Co-captain on the 2012 squad • Earned first-team All-Big Ten honors • Academic All-Big Ten selection • Three-time Big Ten Setter of the Week • Big Ten Co-Player of the Week • Proved that she was one of the nation’s elite setters in her senior season, ranking No. 33 nationally with 11.15 assists per set (1,372 total) in helping the Huskers finish second in the Big Ten in total assists (1,617) and hitting percentage (.292) • Added 28 aces and 338 digs on the year • Totaled 50 or more assists six times during the season, including a season-high 56 against UCLA on Aug. 25 • Recorded a team-best 17 double-doubles (assists-digs) on the year, giving her 54 career double-doubles at Nebraska • Helped Nebraska hit .300 or better in 18 out of 33 matches in 2012 • Was named to the 2012 Ameritas Players Challenge All-Tournament Team • Helped Nebraska to a season-high .471 hitting percentage against Iowa on Nov. 21 with 38 assists • Guided the Huskers to a hitting percentage of .455 in a first-round NCAA Tournament win over Maryland Eastern Shore • Was stellar for the Huskers against defending NCAA champion UCLA, posting 56 assists and 22 digs • Notched three kills against the Bruins • Tabbed 43 assists in helping Nebraska beat No. 19 Kentucky • Finished with 44 assists and 10 digs against Penn State and 35 assists and 10 digs against Ohio State • Notched 39 assists and 11 digs against Michigan State • Paced the Husker offense with 48 assists against Michigan on Sept. 30, also recording 16 digs • Narrowly missed notching a triple-double against Minnesota, posting eight kills, 44 assists and 11 digs for the Huskers • Recorded 35 assists and two aces for the Huskers against the Hawkeyes • Posted over 50 assists against Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue, also recording a career-high 25 digs against the Boilermakers • Notched 47 assists against Minnesota and 44 against Wisconsin, helping the Huskers to a .351 hitting percentage • Had 36 assists for the Huskers in their 3-0 NCAA Regional semifinal win over Washington • Ranks sixth all-time on Nebraska’s career assist chart with 3,198.

 

2011: Junior
Cook took over at setter after sharing the position with two-time All-American Sydney Anderson in NU’s 6-2 rotation in 2010 • Helped the Huskers hit .300 or better in 10 matches in 2011, including two matches over .400 • Earned an AVCA Honorable-Mention All-America award, AVCA All-Mideast Regional honorable-mention accolades and was selected as a first-team All-Big Ten selection • Helped the Huskers hit a season-high .438 against Jackson State on Dec. 1 • Was named to the preseason All-Big Ten team • Led NU with 18 double-doubles on the year (assists-digs) • Ranked fourth on the team in aces with a total of 15 • Had just nine serving errors in 512 attempts on the season (.982) • Averaged 11.03 assists per set, 0.14 aces per set and 2.79 digs per set • Topped the 40-assist mark 13 times during the season, including a career-high 62 assists against Kansas State on Dec. 2 • Recorded 54 assists as the Huskers hit .361 in their 3-1 victory over then-No. 1 Illinois on Oct. 22 • Opened the season with 51 assists against New Mexico State, guiding the Huskers to a comeback win • Finished the season ranked 38th in the country in assists per set (11.03) and fourth in the conference in assists per set • Recorded an efficient .943 assist percentage against Indiana on Oct. 8, notching 33 assists on 35 attempts • Earned a spot on the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic All-Tournament team as she totaled 91 assists on the weekend against New Mexico and New Mexico State • Also was named to the Ameritas Players Challenge All-Tournament Team and was selected as the team’s MVP after notching 122 assists and 40.6 assists per match against Creighton, St. Mary’s and Weber State • Was also honored as an academic All-Big Ten selection.

 

2010: Sophomore
In her first season with the Huskers, Cook shared the setter position with two-time All-American Sydney Anderson in NU’s 6-2 rotation • Played in all 32 matches, including 18 starts • Helped the Huskers hit .300 or better in 14 matches, including two matches over .400 • Was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after averaging a team-high 6.08 assists per set to help the Huskers hit .284 on the year • Notched three double-doubles on the year and ranked second on the team with 0.25 aces per set • Produced an ace in 10 straight matches from Aug. 29 through Sept. 18 • Had 15 or more assists in two of Nebraska’s three NCAA Tournament matches, including 20 in NU’s opening-round sweep of Sacred Heart when NU hit a season-high .429 • Had just six serving errors in 327 attempts during conference play (.982) • Had 15 assists in NU’s Big 12 championship clinching victory over Texas A&M on Nov. 27 to help the Huskers hit .320 • Produced two aces in consecutive matches against Oklahoma on Nov. 17 and Baylor on Nov. 24 • Posted 28 assists at Kansas on Nov. 3, as NU hit a regular-season best .423 • Had 20 or more assists in five straight matches from Oct. 20 through Nov. 3 • Helped the Huskers hit .390 or better in back-to-back matches against Texas Tech on Oct. 20 and Missouri on Oct. 23 • Tied her career high in aces with three at Kansas State on Oct. 16 • Netted 27 assists in a 3-1 win over No. 13 Texas on Oct. 2 in Lincoln • Had 30 assists in a home win over Kansas on Sept. 22 • Posted 26 more assists in four straight wins over Dayton (28), Western Michigan (26), Illinois (28) and Iowa State (26) • Put up a season-high 31 assists and one ace against Florida at the Runza/AVCA Showcase in Omaha on Aug. 29.

 

Before Nebraska
Cook began her career at UCLA, helping the Bruins to a 24-9 record and a No. 14 final ranking in 2009 • Named 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, as she averaged 10.69 assists, 2.44 digs, 0.77 kills and 0.40 blocks per set to become the first Bruin to ever win the award • Selected as the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and an honorable-mention all-conference pick • Totaled 16 double-doubles and finished among team leaders in both aces (21, third) and digs (fourth) • Surpassed the 50-assist mark four times, recording a season-best 56 assists at Oregon on Nov. 21 • Chosen as the MVP of the Ameritas Players Challenge, averaging 10.38 assists, 1.15 kills per set on .519 hitting and 3.38 digs per set in three wins • Was one of the nation’s top high school players at Lincoln Pius X for Coach Jake Moore • Led Pius X to three straight Class B state titles, earning first-team all-state honors in each of her last three seasons • Named the Andi Collins Award winner for the nation’s top high school senior setter in 2008 and was the 2008 MaxPreps National Player of the Year • Established the state record with 4,399 career assists and was an All-American by Volleyball Magazine • Selected for the AVCA/Under Armour High School All-America match in Tampa, Fla. • Named to Volleyball Magazine’s Fab 50 • Ranked as the No. 18 senior nationally by Prepvolleyball.com • Chosen as the 2007 Gatorade Nebraska Volleyball Player of the Year, as she established a state single-season assists record with 1,341 • Garnered Academic All-State honors each season at Pius X • Played club volleyball for the Nebraska Juniors and Coach Gwen Egbert and was a starter on the 2009 Junior Olympic 18-and-Under Open Division national championship team • Won the 17-and-Under national Division at the 2007 JOs • Competed in track for two seasons and in basketball as a freshman • Has been around volleyball her whole life, as her father (John) has been the head coach at Nebraska since 2000, while her mother (Wendy) was a two-time All-American setter at San Diego State in 1978 and 1979 and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 1998.
