2009: Redshirt Freshman
James was one of Nebraska’s top backups at outside hitter, averaging 0.56 kills and 0.44 digs per set in seven matches, as she battled injuries during the second half of the season Â• Saw time at Oklahoma on Sept. 30, registering a kill, an assist and a dig in two sets of action • Played extensively in the sweep of Texas Tech on Sept. 16, collecting two kills on three swings and a block • Closed out the match with Tulane on Sept. 5 with a kill on her only swing of the match • Made her Husker debut against UL-Lafayette on Sept. 4, recording a kill and two digs in the third set

2008: Freshman
James took a medical redshirt season, recovering from shoulder surgery in the spring of 2008.

High School
James was one of the nation’s top outside hitters playing for legendary Coach Ron Kordes at Assumption High School • Started her final two seasons at the school, earning first-team All-America accolades from Mizuno/Volleyball Magazine in both 2006 and 2007 • Starred as Assumption High School went 40-3 with a state title and a No. 4 national ranking in 2007, averaging 5.80 kills, 1.20 blocks, 3.80 digs and 0.80 aces per set to earn Kentucky Gatorade Player-of-the-Year honors • Rated the No. 13 senior in the nation by Prepvolleyball.com and was a four-year letterwinner for a program that captured four state titles and was the national high school champion with a 43-0 record in 2005 • Garnered first-team all-state laurels as a junior, leading the team in kills as Assumption went 41-2 and ranked second nationally • Played club volleyball at KIVA (Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy) and led her squad to a runner-up finish at the 2007 USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Championships, earning a spot on the all-tournament team • Was a member of the 2006 USA Junior National A-2 Team • Finished her high school career with a 3.7 GPA and served as an editor for her school paper and was involved in campus leadership groups • Recognized for her athletic and academic achievements with the Kentucky Senate accolade in 2008 • Looked at Illinois, Kentucky and Florida before deciding to become a Husker.
