Mari Butler Season 2017-18

Junior (2019-20)
Mari Butler competed three times in both smallbore and air rifle as a junior. Butler posted seasons highs of 565 (smallbore) and 588 (air rifle). Her air rifle score was a new career high. 

Sophomore (2018-19)
As one of three sophomores, Butler competed in five matches for the Huskers in 2018-19. Butler holds career averages of 556.13 in smallbore and 575.63 in air rifle. She set a new career-high score of 568 in smallbore and tied then-personal best in air rifle (580) against NC State on Jan. 20. Butler maintained average scores of 556.40 in smallbore and 574.60 in air rifle throughout the 2018-19 season.

Freshman (2017-18)
Butler joined the Nebraska rifle team as one of three signees in 2017-18. Butler appeared a total of three times in both smallbore and air rifle. She posted a season-high smallbore score of 562 against Akron, as well as twice shooting a season-high air rifle score of 580 (West Virginia and Army West Point). In the classroom, Butler earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring. She also earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Before Nebraska
Butler was a member of the Buffalo Sharpshooters, under the direction of Coach Dan Geurts. Butler was a club teammate of former Husker All-American Dacotah Faught. She also has close ties with former Husker Kelsey Hansen. A native of Casselton, N.D., Butler attended Central Cass High School where she was a member of the Honor Roll, National Honor Society and Student Council. Butler also ran cross country and was a statistician for the volleyball, girls' basketball, softball and wrestling teams. 

Personal
Mari was born on April 17, 1999 in Fargo, N.D. She is the daughter of Richard and Carrie Butler and has one brother, Soren. Mari was a three-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. In her free time, Butler enjoys watching historical and scientific documentaries, reading books and writing short stories.
