2003-04 Outlook
One of the pleasant surprises of fall training has been the improvement in Laura Johnson. The former member of the club program was a regular in the Huskers’ air rifle lineup last season and has continued to make strides in the event. According to Coach Launi Meili, Johnson will battle Sarah Quinn and Stacy Underwood for the final spot in the air rifle lineup.

2002-03 (Sophomore)
Johnson saw time both in the lineup and as an individual in competition. She competed in every match, except for the Buckeye Invitational, and averaged a 376 in the air rifle and a 1,106 in smallbore. She made her debut in the lineup aganist UTEP and defending NCAA champion Alaska-Fairbanks, where she finished 10th in the air rifle (377) and 12th in the smallbore (1,077). She picked up her first career top-10 effort in the smallbore against Air Force on Feb. 7 (588) before turning in her best effort of the season in the air rifle at the NCAA Qualifier, scoring a career-high 384 to place seventh overall.

2001-02 (Freshman)
After making the jump from the NU club team to the varsity squad, Johnson gained experience in both individual and team matches. She made her Husker debut against Alaska-Fairbanks, where she fired a 1,011 in smallbore and a 370 in air rifle. She shot a season-high 1,119 in smallbore at the NCAA Qualifier and a season-high 373 in air rifle against the Ohio State ROTC.

As a Junior Competitor
Johnson was a member of Nebraska’s club team and competed in several matches. At the 2001 NRA National Indoor Rifle and Pistol Championships, Johnson helped the NU club team to an eighth-place finish in the smallbore and a ninth-place finish in air rifle in the College club category.
