 Junior (2015-16)
Vasileios Stavropoulos competed in the 2015 USTA/ITA Regional Championships playing against UNO's Alex Woodward, University of Minnesota's Jeremy Lynn and University of Arkansas's Mike Redlicki. Stavropoulos defeated Woodward and Lynn. Stravropoulos was defeated by Redlicki and did not continue in the championships.

Stavropoulos left the Huskers at the semester.

“He is a very athletic and could easily be a swimmer or skier, but has chosen tennis to be his primary sport in college,” Head Coach Kerry McDermott said. “We are excited as coaches to bring him to an even higher level with his tennis. I love his attitude toward hard work and wanting to improve. We have no doubt his attitude can only rub off onto his teammates, and continue to move our program forward in the Big Ten and nationally.”

Sophomore (2014-15) Stavropoulos saw more singles action in his sophomore season playing for the Huskers. Vasileios competed exclusively at the No. 6 position where he produced a 12-6 overall mark. Stavropoulos went 8-3 in the spring.

Stavropoulos earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for the second season in a row and also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for the first time in 2015. 

Freshman (2013-14)
Stavropoulos begain his freshman season for the Huskers playing both singles and doubles during fall competition, earning an overall doubles record of 5-4. For the remainder of the season he played at the No. 5 and 6 positions in singles competition finishing the season with a record of 18-17. 

The top junior boys player in Greece, Stavropolous went 12-11 during Nebraska's spring dual season, including a 4-7 record against Big Ten foes.

Stavropoulos earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in the spring of 2014, after claiming spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2013-14.

Before Nebraska
Stavropoulos has been one of the top players in Greece for several years. Stavropoulos was ranked No. 1 nationally in Boys 14 and Boys 16 singles and doubles in Greece for 2009, 2010, and 2011. Stavropoulos did not participate in Greek Championships after the age of 16. In 2010, Stavropoulos was named the No. 1 National 1995 player. In 2011, he finished No. 4 in the European Boys 16 and Under singles rankings. Beyond the court, Stavropoulos attained the Academic Honor and Excellence Award for 2012 and the Academic Excellence for 2011 at SHAPE.

Personal
A native of Athens, Greece, Vasileios is the son of Stavros Stavropoulos and Olga Chroni and has one younger brother, Dimitrios, 15. Outside of playing the game, Stavropoulos was a volunteer assistant coach at the SHAPE American High School. Stavropoulos is majoring in economics, global studies and political science at Nebraska. He earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2015. He has earned three spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, and he is a two-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
